About me

I love getting alongside women and their families and helping in whatever way I can - demystifying the basics of breastfeeding or navigating more complex breastfeeding concerns. Having difficulty can be surprising when breastfeeding seems such a natural thing to do!

I didn’t ever expect that I’d become a lactation consultant. That is, until I had my first child. When I had my daughter, I thought I was reasonably well prepared to breastfeed her. I was a midwife and had been working in a tertiary maternity hospital for 6 years. I knew there could be challenges, but truth be told, nothing prepared me for how difficult breastfeeding turned out to be (for me). Fortunately that’s not everyone’s story, but if breastfeeding has been harder than you anticipated, then you’re in the right place - I’m here to support you the best way I can.

I’m a Mum of four little ones and live in Toowoomba, QLD. I’m a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I did my dual degrees in Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Queensland and then worked in a busy tertiary maternity hospital in Brisbane before moving to the UK and then Toowoomba.

When I had such a difficult time feeding my daughter, I was perplexed by how complicated it was to establish pain-free breastfeeding. This sparked my interest to know more and so I began the process of becoming an IBCLC.

I have since had the joy of returning to multiple hospitals, a general medical practice and also private practice all the while assisting families in achieving their breastfeeding goals.

It can be a very stressful time in those early days if things aren’t going as you had expected. I’m here to be a soft landing, providing education, skills to overcome breastfeeding challenges, support and some encouragement along the way.
